Steinbock Accepts Residency
Bonnie Steinbock, a professor of philosophy at the University at Albany, has received a month-long scholarly residency at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Study and Conference Center on Lake Como, Italy.
Steinbock will take her residency during a fall 2008 sabbatical, working on a chapter on human embryonic stem cell research for the second edition of her 1992 book, Life Before Birth: The Moral and Legal Status of Embryos and Fetuses. Steinbock teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in ethics, bioethics, and philosophy of law, graduate courses in public policy and public health, and is the director of the interdisciplinary minor in bioethics. She is the author of Life Before Birth, as well as the editor or co-editor of six other books.
