        <p>UAlbany scientist Brian Rose has been awarded $544,681 through the National Science Foundation (NSF) Faculty Early Development (CAREER) Program. Rose, an assistant professor in the Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences at UAlbany, will utilize the support to examine the role of oceans in the planetary energy cycles.</p>

            <title><![CDATA[Utilizing Big Data to Advance Research in Psychology, Anthropology, Linguistics, and Sociology]]></title>

        <p>UAlbany Computer Science Professor Tomek Strzalkowski, the director of UAlbany's Institute for Informatics, Logics and Security Studies (ILS), has been awarded $499,930 through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Army Research Laboratory's Open Campus initiative to explore the manner in which new data capture techniques can help advance research in areas such as psychology, anthropology, linguistics, and sociology. </p>
