State Historians Gather at UAlbany to Share Research on New York’s Rich History

More than 150 historians from across the state will visit the University at Albany as it hosts the 12th annual conference, Researching New York 2009, from November 19- 20.

The conference is part of the UAlbany's celebration of the Hudson-Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial.

For recent UAlbany graduate Daniel Foerste, an aspiring filmmaker, the chance to work on an independent movie this summer presented the opportunity of a lifetime. The film, Confinement, was written, directed, and edited by John McCarty as a modern re-telling of The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman.

UAlbany Center for Autism Holds Conference on Improving Students' Quality of Life in School Settings

The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities at the University at Albany is hosting its eighth annual conference, "Research and Practice: A Partnership to Improve the Lives of Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)."

The session will explore the concept of quality of life as it relates to the positive supports for students with ASD and other developmental disabilities.

Rachel Galgan is a sophomore business administration major from Harpursville, N.Y., who came to UAlbany as a direct-admit freshman and has a 3.77 GPA. She studies hard, as one of an estimated 238 University students being inducted into The National Society of Collegiate Scholars on Oct. 17 at 10:30 a.m. in the Campus Center Ballroom.

UAlbany Researchers Address National Obesity Epidemic with $1.1 Million Stimulus Grant

University at Albany School of Public Health researchers Janine M. Jurkowski and Kirsten K. Davison have received a $1.1 million stimulus grant through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to address the national childhood obesity epidemic.

UAlbany researchers are seeking to encourage good eating habits and curb obesity through a new $1.1 million grant through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
