Where:
Recital Hall, Performing Arts Center (PAC), UAlbany, 1400 Washington Avenue, Albany

Background:
Josh Shaw's passion for developing young, upstart companies started while as an undergrad at the University at Albany where he received a bachelor's degree in marketing and finance in ‘97. While in school, he launched the multi-media marketing services company, Student Advantage, Inc., and grew it from 12 people generating $400,000 in annual revenue to an organization boasting 500 employees and $85 million. The company, in its heyday, was valued at over a billion dollars on NASDAQ and Shaw oversaw marketing, sales, operations, and business development at Student Advantage, Inc., over the course of nine years.

Shaw's recent venture involves the beauty industry, where he's become the category leader and helped to pioneer the now $1 billion tooth whitening category. Shaw is chief operating officer at GoSMILE™ The Smile Beauty Company™, and his business acumen caught the eye of billionaire Donald Trump who hand-picked Josh for one of his Season 4 Apprentices.

Though "fired" by The Donald in episode six, Shaw impressed Trump enough to be invited back to participate in the show's final task working with the non-profit organization Autism Speaks. To benefit the charity, Shaw co-created a lemonade toothpaste at GoSMILE and penned a book "Who Invented Lemonade" which is an inspirational story about making lemonade from lemons. Other philanthropic projects Shaw is involved with include Operation Smile and The Ronald McDonald House. Shaw lives in NYC with his wife, Melissa, and daughter, Ava.
