Statement by New York Gov. George Pataki

ALBANY, N.Y. (August 13, 2006) -- "Today I join with so many in mourning the loss of Kermit Hall, a scholar and a friend who served as President of SUNY Albany since February of 2005. Since his appointment, he has been both an outstanding University and community leader. He worked tirelessly to improve academic standards and helped spearhead a nanoelectronic research institute that is unparalleled in the nation. Kermit Hall's contributions to the University will be seen far into the future. Libby and I offer our thoughts and prayers to his family during this difficult time."
