Background:
The Christopher DeCormier Memorial Scholarship, administered by UAlbany's Institute for Mesoamerican Studies, is awarded each year to one or more students for research on Mesoamerica. Chris DeCormier, a UAlbany anthropology student in the 1970s, carried out independent fieldwork on Mayan language and culture in Guatemala, and assisted in advising the American Embassy in Guatemala on how to provide aid to the Mayas at the time of the tragic earthquake of 1976. His promising academic and personal life was cut short due to cancer in November 1977 and his parents, Louise and Robert DeCormier, subsequently created the scholarship. Robert DeCormier is the music director of Peter, Paul and Mary, as well as the vocal ensemble group, Counterpoint.

Peter Yarrow is an American singer who found fame with the 1960s folk music trio Peter, Paul and Mary. He co-wrote (with Leonard Lipton) the group's most famous song, "Puff, the Magic Dragon."

Concert tickets can be purchased at the door or online.
