| Biography: Amy Murrell Taylor received her doctorate, with an emphasis on the history of the South and the Civil War, from the University of Virginia. She is the author of The Divided Family in Civil War America (University of North Carolina Press, 2005), as well as articles that have appeared in "North and South" magazine and in edited volumes on the Civil War published by Oxford and Princeton University Presses. Taylor is a former project manager on the digital archive, "Valley of the Shadow: Two Communities in the American Civil War" and is now working on a study of how emancipation played out in everyday life during the Civil War. |
