Applied Materials R&D Center (AMAT)
The $300 million Applied Materials (AMAT) R&D Center located at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering's Albany NanoTech Complex represents AMAT's only R&D facility located outside of its main headquarters in San Jose, California. It involves the installation of the complete spectrum of alpha- and beta-type AMAT tools, placement of AMAT researchers and engineers from Europe, Israel, and the U.S., and joint R&D activities on a variety of advanced computer chip programs, with emphasis on advanced process technology for the 32nm node and beyond.
