Biography:

David Matkin has served in a number of practitioner positions before completing his Ph.D. He worked as an immigration officer at the Canadian border, trained and helped implement TANF and workforce policies in Utah, and served as the Assistant Ethics Administrator for the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas.

Dr. Matkin's research examines multiple areas of public financial management, including: internal control and accountability, debt financing, budget reform, interlocal cooperation, and economic development through state tax credits.

Dr. Matkin received his Ph.D. in Public Administration from the University of Kansas. His dissertation examined the management of state corporate income tax incentives, and Dr. George Frederickson was his major professor. Dr. Matkin has an MPA from the Romney Institute of Public Management at Brigham Young University.
