Biography:
Sharon Dawes is director of the university-wide Center for Technology in Government (CTG). Her current research interests include information strategy and management in the public sector, government information policy, interorganizational information sharing and integration, and collaboration across organizational boundaries. Dawes led the development of the department's government information strategy and management curriculum which focuses on the policy, management, and technology dimensions of information and technology use in the design and delivery of public services. As director of CTG, she was responsible for applied research programs, projects, and public-private-academic partnerships which encourage innovation, reduce costs, and enhance the quality of government operations and public services. In 1995, the Center was named an Innovations in American Government Award winner. Its projects are funded by New York State, the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Dept. of Justice and others. In 1997, Dawes was honored by Governing Magazine as a "Public Official of the Year."
