Biography:
Victor Asal joined the faculty of the Political Science Department in fall 2003 (Ph.D., University of Maryland). Asal's research focuses on the interaction of international relations and domestic politics and how this interaction influences ethnic conflict and ethnic terrorism. Asal has taught courses in terrorism, ethnic conflict, democratization, negotiation and crisis management. He has worked as a negotiation trainer in a variety of settings running simulations on negotiation, democracy, and domestic regimes. Working with the ICONS Project Asal has created simulations on varied topics and facilitates crisis leadership training seminars for the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
