Biography:
Assistant Professor Akiko Hosler's research interests include epidemiology of diabetes and its behavioral risk factors, health disparities, and socio-environmental influences on health. She is the principal investigator of a research project to focus on retail food and walking environment in under-served communities in the greater Capital District. The goal of this project is to examine relationships between health behavior (dietary habit, walking for exercise, and smoking) and changes in built environment in urban and rural settings. Dr. Hosler has authored more than 50 journal articles, government reports, and book chapters in the United States and Japan.
