Secure Future

ALBANY, N.Y. (Oct. 31, 2017) – UAlbany’s College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity (CEHC) is preparing students for a future of protecting against, responding to and recovering from a growing number of natural and human-caused disasters.

The college requires 100 hours of training for students in its undergraduate major – completed through authentic simulations and real disaster response volunteer opportunities.

“Our college is the first in the nation to bring together emergency preparedness, homeland security and cybersecurity,” said CEHC Dean Robert Griffin. “We are providing students with the ability to not only learn in the classroom, but also apply their skills in the field.”

New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo announced UAlbany would be the home for a first-in-the-nation security college in 2015.

Since then, enrollment into CEHC has been in high-demand. As of this semester, the college has more than 360 students declared for its undergraduate major. 11 students became the first to earn their degrees last May.

In addition to the undergraduate major, the college also offers an undergraduate minor and graduate certificate.
