ALBANY, N. Y. (June 19, 2017) — UAlbany’s School of Public Health (SPH) is ranked among the top online master’s programs by The Best Schools, an independent education organization.

SPH offers several online and continuing education programs targeted to health care professionals working in the field. The online Master of Public Health (MPH) degree is a part-time degree program that combines a strong academic foundation and practical application through a wide variety of internship opportunities.

“The School of Public Health’s online MPH provides individuals interested in the field a unique opportunity to obtain an advanced degree in public health,” said Laura Schweitzer, interim dean, School of Public Health. “We’re very pleased to be recognized nationally for our program designed to prepare professionals for the growing needs of this critical field.”

The program focuses on public health practice allowing students to become familiar with theory-based and evidence-based public health interventions, program planning and evaluation. Students learn to assess specific situations to prevent the spread of disease and promote good health practices in communities, as well as how to navigate and change public health policy.

In addition, the School of Public Health offers three fully-online Graduate Certificate Programs:

  • Certificate in Public Health Fundamentals and Principles
  • Certificate in Global Health Studies
  • Certificate in Public Health Surveillance and Preparedness

The online MPH degree requires 51 credit hours, and includes the following core courses:
