Deepening the Affiliation

UAlbany student Alex Bowen presents his clean energy research at the Power Dialog event, part of the climate change work that Albany Law’s Eleanor Stein conducted with UAlbany faculty through the Venture Fund.

ALBANY, N.Y. (June 12, 2017) — Developing and prioritizing human rights, addressing urban blight through regional information sharing, and building an interdisciplinary collaborative on climate change are just a few of the issues UAlbany and Albany Law faculty, staff and students have worked on together..

A key goal of UAlbany’s affiliation with Albany Law School is to create a more collaborative research environment that yields new sources of grant funding. One vehicle to achieve this goal is the Academic Collaborative Funds. These projects are just a sample of what has transpired from this venture.

Launched in the fall of 2015, the Funds are designed to foster the development of collaboration, sponsored funding, research and program development to increase research and enrollment for both institutions. The Funds include:

  • The Collaboration Venture Fund. It fosters the development of collaboration, sponsored funding, research and program development to increase research and enrollment for both institutions.
  • The Collaboration Seminar and Conference Fund. It serves to support or extend proposed projects by contributing supplemental funding for planning workshops, conferences, travel of outside experts and other seminar and conference-related expenses or funding to support travel to a potential foundation funding source.

A Request for Proposals is issued each spring semester and provides funding for the following academic year.

If you have an idea that will showcase both the work of UAlbany and Albany Law School, advance academic programming, increase enrollment and/or lead to expanded services for students, please visit The Academic Collaboration Venture Fund website. The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2017.
