Tomorrow’s Advanced Data Analytics Lightning Talk will be broadcasted on Twitter Live.

ALBANY, N.Y. (February 15, 2017) – UAlbany’s third Advanced Data Analytics (ADA) Lightning Talk will be hosted tomorrow with a new twist – live streaming.

The University’s Office of Communications and Marketing is broadcasting the event on Twitter Live. Those who cannot physically attend are encouraged to watch and ask questions through our @UAlbanyNews handle.

The ADA Lightning Talks Series provides the campus community with a chance to learn about the advanced data analytics work being done by faculty researchers at UAlbany. Participants can brainstorm ideas, seek partners and resources, share research/expertise, gain new perspectives and explore possibilities for external grants and/or internships. No experience or background in data analytics is required.

Tomorrow's talk is scheduled for 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the Standish Room on the third floor of the Science Library. Featured speakers will each be given 10 minutes to present, followed by five minutes of open discussion for audience in attendance and online.

  • Charalampos Chelmis, Assistant Professor, College of Engineering and Applied Sciences
    Topic: Big Data: Problems related to Volume, Velocity, Variety, Variability, and Veracity
  • Gerald Marschke, Associate Professor, Department of Economics
    Topic: High-Impact and Transformative Science (HITS) Metrics: Definition, Exemplification, and Comparison
  • YeLin (Lynn) Kim, Assistant Professor, College of Engineering and Applied Sciences
    Topic: Human-centered data analytics: audio-visual emotion recognition
  • Theresa Pardo, Director, Center for Technology in Government
    Topic: Moderator of Open Discussion/Closing Statements
