Campus Celebrates Family Earth Day

ALBANY, N.Y. (April 19, 2016) -- With more than 200 students visiting from 33 area schools, the University at Albany celebrated 'Family Earth Day' with a host of fun, hands-on activities and demonstrations. Organized by the Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences, the event offered kids the chance to see a sheepherding demonstration, check out the state-of-the-art New York State Mesonet system, take part in weather balloon launches or view sunspots through telescopes in the University's Solar Observatory.

The event was supported by the Office of Environmental Sustainability, the Office of the Vice President for Research, University Auxiliary Services, Graduate Students for Sustainability, the Atmospheric Sciences Research Center and NYS Mesonet.
