Internship Opportunities Abound at UAlbany

ALBANY, N.Y. (July 17, 2014) -- Whether working to develop new therapy approaches for difficult-to-treat cancers or serving as a tax advisor for clients of PricewaterhouseCoopers, University at Albany students are gaining practical and professional experience through a variety of on- and off-site internship opportunities.

UAlbany also serves as an ideal location for students from other universities, both in the United States and internationally, seeking to advance their research and professional experience while continuing to build the skills necessary to have successful careers.

Among the student opportunities this summer:

  • UAlbany senior Jonathan Stricoff (Woodbury, N.Y.), an accounting major in the School of Business, is interning at the Center for Technology in Government (CTG), where he is developing financial tools to support CTG's budget and financial management process.
  • UAlbany senior Elizabeth Skovron (Tarrytown, N.Y.), an honors student and sociology major, created her own internship through the Town of Greenburgh, N.Y. Her initiative focuses on the development of aspiring business professionals.
  • UAlbany graduate student John Horner (Granby, N.Y.), currently in pursuit of an MBA, landed a position in Xerox’s global procurement internship program. Horner is responsible for developing relationships with quality suppliers and streamlining purchasing initiatives.
  • Johns Hopkins undergraduate student Lindsay Cheu (Bethlehem, N.Y.) is spending her summer at UAlbany's Cancer Research Center (CRC) in the lab of Associate Professor Doug Conklin. Cheu is working with post-doctoral research associate Weilin Wang as they study new therapeutic approaches to prostate cancer.
