Biography:
Assistant Professor Akiko Hosler's research interests include diabetes and its risk factors, health disparities, socio-environmental influences on health, and program evaluation. She has published more than 40 journal articles, government reports and book chapters in the United States and Japan. Prior to joining UAlbany, she was director of diabetes epidemiology at the New York State Department of Health. She has a doctorate in Sociology and a master's degree in geography from the University at Albany, and a bachelor's in economics from Doshisha University in Japan. She also completed fellowships at Amherst College and Mount Holyoke College.
