Video: Magic Johnson Scores With Message of Giving Back

ALBANY, N.Y. (October 17, 2011) -- An estimated 3,000 students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the University at Albany were in attendance to listen to basketball legend, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Earvin 'Magic' Johnson at the Fall 2011 World Within Reach Speaker Series event. A former NBA star, Johnson is now the chairman and chief executive officer of Magic Johnson Enterprises, which provides products and services that particularly focus on ethnically diverse urban communities.

The World Within Reach Speaker Series is an initiative started by UAlbany's Student Association to bring engaging speakers in public affairs, entertainment, and business to the University at Albany. Previous speakers include Gen. Colin L. Powell, USA (ret.), Governor Howard Dean, political strategist Karl Rove, journalist Barbara Walters and 42nd President of the United States Bill Clinton. The series is co-sponsored by University Auxiliary Services and the UAlbany Alumni Association.
