Previous Meetings

2004 - The Eighth annual meeting was held May 2, 2004 at Wheaton College in Norton, MA. The keynote speaker was Dr. Huda Akil of the University of Michigan and her talk was entitled "Searching for the Neural Basis of Mental Illness ". This was the second year at Wheaton under the direction of the local organizers, Kathy Morgan and Meg Blasberg Kirkpatrick, and their Wheaton crew. Next year is the last year at Wheaton and then we are, hopefully, on to Northeastern University.

2003 - The Seventh annual meeting was held May 3, 2003 at Wheaton College in Norton, MA. The keynote speaker was Dr. Eve Marder of Brandeis University and her talk was entitled "Stability and Plasticity in Adult and Developing Neural Circuits". This was the first year at Wheaton and went smoothly under the direction of the local organizers, Kathy Morgan and Meg Blasberg, and their Wheaton crew. Next year we hope for an even bigger and better meeting for the second year at Wheaton!



2002 - The Sixth annual meeting was held April 28, 2001 at Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA. The keynote speaker was Dr. Donald Pfaff of Rockefeller University and his talk was entitled " Hormonal and genetic influences on arousal of the brain,sexual and otherwise". This was the third year at Wellesley and each has been excellent. Next year we move on to Wheaton. Kudos to the Wellesley organizers!


2001 - The Fifth annual meeting was held April 28, 2001 at Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA. The keynote speaker was Dr. Ed Kravitz of Harvard University and his talk was entitled “Fighting Lobsters: from Genes to Behavior”. With a lobster ballet and pugilistic fruit flies, the talk couldn't be anything but great. Everything was well attended and worthwhile. The organizers and helpers did a great job!


2000 - The Fourth annual meeting was held April 30, 2000 at Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA. The keynote speaker was Dr. Sandra Witelson of McMaster University and her talk was entitled "Einstein and Other Brains". The talk, poster sessions and workshops were well attended and worthwhile. Again, thanks go to all the organizers and helpers.

1999 - The third annual meeting was held May 1, 1999 at Trinity College in Hartford,CT. The keynote speaker was Dr. Robert Sapolsky of Stanford University and his talk was entitled "Stress, Neurodegeneration, and Individual Differences". The talk, poster sessions and workshops were well attended and worthwhile. Again, thanks go to all the organizers and helpers.

1998 - The second annual meeting of N.E.U.R.O.N. was held on May 3, 1998 at Trinity College, CT. The meeting was a great success, thanks to the outstanding keynote address on Cortical Memory Systems by Dr. Patricia Goldman-Rakic, Professor at Yale University School of Medicine and Past President of the Society for Neuroscience, and thanks to the efforts of the local organizing committee, led by Drs. Priscilla Kehoe and Daniel Blackburn.

1997 - The first annual meeting of N.E.U.R.O.N. was held on May 1, 1997 at Trinity College, CT. The meeting was excellent despite the torrential downpour! Thanks for the wonderful keynote address on Sex, stress, and synapses: Endocrinology and neuroscience combine forces by Dr. Bruce McEwen , Professor at Rockerfeller University and then President of the Society for Neuroscience. The first meeting was only possible due to the efforts of Dr. Priscilla Kehoe and the support of Trinity College. This meeting was also supported by a grant from New England Consortium for Undergraduate Education.
