UAlbany Northeast Regional Forensic Institute Launches First Regional DNA Academy

Quenpro Inc. and the University at Albany Northeast Regional Forensic Institute (NERFI) have joined in a unique partnership designed to deliver the highest quality ISO/IEC 17025 training programs. Quenpro has extensive experience in providing ISO/IEC 17025 training for many forensic laboratories, and for the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB). NERFI has the experience and facilities to provide academic based credit bearing forensic programs. A variety of courses and support services are planned to assist forensic laboratories in the implementation of an ISO based quality system.

ALBANY - Crime might not pay - but for crime fighters, there are plenty of jobs. On Thursday, the University at Albany showcased the inaugural class of its DNA Academy, a graduate-level crash course in lab and courtroom techniques. A dozen fresh-faced hires of the Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory are its first students; classes from other police agencies are likely to follow.

The state University of New York at Albany will announce on Thursday, June 16, the establishment of a DNA Academy to "fast-track" the training of forensic scientists.
UAlbany President Kermit Hall, director of the National Institute for Justice Sarah Hart, and other officials will attend a news conference announcing formation of the Northeast Regional Forensic Institute.
