Recognition Ceremony
On Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 5:30 p.m., the Departments of Art, Music, and Theatre hosted a Recognition Ceremony for their majors where each graduate was individually recognized for his/her achievement.
Graduates and faculty marched into the Main Theatre of the Performing Arts Center under the leadership of Faculty Marshal, Professor Andi Lyons (Theatre Chair). Professor Reed Hoyt, Music Department Chair, welcomed the graduates, their families and friends. Dr. Hoyt was joined onstage by Professor Daniel Goodwin (Art Chair) and a number of faculty members.
Music presentations followed as pianist Melinda Cestaro played Excursions, Op. 20, No. 3: Allegretto by Samuel Barber. Soprano Melanie Shank sang Song to the Moon by Antonin Dvorak, and was accompanied by pianist Joshua Tanis.
Dr. Hoyt recognized this year's recipients of the Music Department's awards and scholarships. Professor Rachel Dressler (Art) announced the graduates' names as they were presented with their certificates. The singing of the Alma Mater was led by graduates Nellie Rustick, Kurtis Randolph, Sarah Turner, Ryan Sweet, Melinda Cestaro, Kevin Ruby, and Melanie Shank (pictured below from left to right). All of the music performances were top notch!
After the ceremony, a reception was held in the Fine Arts 2nd floor Gallery.
