Electronic music and Music Technology courses at the University at Albany offer a creative learning environment integrating history, theory, composition and studio practice. The course of study is open to Music majors and minors and other students who are interested in engaging in learning about an historic, yet ever changing fifty-year musical tradition. Completion of the course sequence can lead to the completion of a Music major with a concentration in Music Technology.

The Electronic Music Studios at the University offer professionally equipped labs for teaching and student work. Areas of studio work include sound editing, field recording, composition, interactive programming and live performance. Under the direction of the Studio Director, Professor Robert Gluck, students create original and thought provoking work that is often distinct from that which students have previously encountered in the marketplace.

This website is a guide to our program, staff and facilities. It offers a brief tour of the studios and equipment. The historical web link, to the left, leads you to the EMF Institute, a virtual museum of the history of Electronic Music, edited by Professor Emeritus Joel Chadabe and Bob Gluck.
