Kevin Champagne

Leader of the UAlbany Bands, Kevin R. Champagne earned a B.S. in Music Education with a concentration in classical guitar from The College of Saint Rose in 1988. In 1994, he earned his M.S. in Music Education with concentrations in jazz guitar and jazz studies from The College of Saint Rose. He has also studied at Siena College and Central Connecticut State University.

Kevin has been employed as Band Director at Lansingburgh Central School District since 1988. While at Lansingburgh, he has directed Concert Bands at the elementary and middles school levels, and is currently the high school Band Director. He also directs the Jazz Ensemble, Marching Band, Pep Band, Percussion Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble and the Pit Orchestra for the school musicals. Kevin teaches high school Music Theory and middle school General Music. He is currently serving his second term as President of the Rensselaer County School Music Association. He has previously acted as Festival Chairman as well as Manager for the association.

He has performed throughout New York State as a solo classical guitarist, as well as with various jazz bands and rock bands. Kevin has performed in Pit Orchestras for many productions including Evita, Man of La Mancha, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Little Shop and Horrors. Beside his guitar performances, he has sung with the Westminster Choir College at Carnegie Hall under the baton of Robert Shaw and with The College of Saint Rose Masterworks Chorale at Saint Patrick's Cathedral in New York City with John Grady. Various ensembles throughout the Capital Region have performed his musical compositions. His musical affiliations include: Rensselaer County School Music Association, Music Educator's National Conference, New York State School Music Association, and the International Association of Jazz Educators. Kevin currently resides in Glenmont, NY, with his wife, Anne, and their two daughters, Julia and Olivia.
