David Hosley


Director of the University at Albany Jazz Ensemble for the past thirteen years, David Hosley has been teaching instrumental music in the East Greenbush Central School District for over twenty years. He is currently Director of the Columbia High School Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble as well as a theory instructor.

He received his Bachelor of Music from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and his Master of Science in Music Education from The College of Saint Rose in Albany. Mr. Hosley is a member of the International Trumpet Guild, International Association of Jazz Educators, New York State School Music Association, and MENC: The National Association for Music Education.

Mr. Hosley has performed with the Big Band of the Northeast on trumpet and piano and has been a studio musician for Spectrum Studios in Lanesboro, MA. He received an award from the BET Jazz Channel for a performance with the Joe Finn Jazz Quartet. He has appeared as a guest conductor for the Rensselaer County Jazz Ensemble. He continues to perform on a regular basis with his own band, Top Shelf.
