Maura Heffner is the newly appointed Director of Exhibitions and Programs at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art. She is the former assistant curator and manager of Whitney on Tour, Whitney Museum of American Art. She has held numerous positions at the Whitney since joining the staff in 1994 including administrator and coordinator of the 2000 Biennial Exhibition and project director of Mies in America. Ms. Heffner’s curated exhibitions include Meaning, Medium, and Method: American Sculpture, 1940-1960, Edward Hopper and Urban Realism, and Once Upon a Time: Fiction and Fantasy in Contemporary Art recently on view at the New York State Museum.
