Elizabeth
T. Scott, Revelations, 1989. Mixed media. 58x45
1/2 inches.
Born in Chester, South Carolina.
Raised on a farm among fourteen children, Elizabeth learned to quilt at
age nine and continued until her work was sufficient for bartering and
gifts.
After raising her daughter, artist Joyce Scott, Elizabeth began to create
quilts again. This time she focused more on self-expression than on functionality.
Revelations exemplifies this new style as seen in the circular form, the
mix of media, and the variety of stitches and colors.
