Margo
Hoff, The Librarian, 1988, acrylic and collage
on canvas, 54 x 44 inches.
Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
As a child, Margo Hoff used to model figures out of white clay she brought
back from local well-drilling sites. Later she attended the Art Institute
of Chicago and become well known in the Chicago art scene during the 1940s
and 50s. Hoff works in many mediums: oil, ink, watercolor, wood. The
Librarian reflects her sense of interplay between color, form, and
the graphic quality of text.
