Dan Cameron was born in 1956 in Utica, New York and grew up in Hudson Falls, where his first exposure to contemporary art was through a 1972 exhibition of David Smith's sculpture at the Hyde Collection, Glens Falls. A contributing editor to Arts Magazine since 1983, Cameron has published over two hundred fifty texts on contemporary art in periodicals such as Artforum, Arts, Flash Art and Art Issues. In addition, he has published several dozen monographic catalog texts for such museums as the Royal Academy of Art, London; Stedjelik Museum, Amsterdam; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, among others. Mr. Cameron has organized surveys of U.S. and international artists at several important venues. Since 1995, he has worked as Senior Curator of The New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York.
