This Place

(Main Galleries, First and Second Floors)

February 1 – April 7, 2018

Photographs by Martin Kollar, Jungjin Lee, Thomas Struth, and Jeff Wall will be presented as part of a major collaboration with the Picker Art Gallery at Colgate University; the Wellin Museum at Hamilton College; and the Tang Teaching Museum at Skidmore College. This Place is an exhibition of more than 600 images by twelve internationally acclaimed photographers that explores the rifts and paradoxes of the highly contested spaces of Israel and the West Bank. Photographs by Frédéric Brenner, Wendy Ewald, Martin Kollar, Josef Koudelka, Jungjin Lee, Gilles Peress, Fazal Sheikh, Stephen Shore, Rosalind Fox Solomon, Thomas Struth, Jeff Wall, and Nick Waplington have been shared among the institutions and will be on view simultaneously during the spring 2018 semester at each of the four participating colleges and universities.

This broad teaching initiative will bring together museum staff and faculty members across disciplines. At each institution the museum will function as a laboratory space for interactive, interdisciplinary learning and curriculum development that can be shared and replicated to enhance undergraduate education. The collaborative partnership is supported by the Teagle Foundation and will culminate in a national public symposium in 2018.
