We are pleased to present the work of Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) The annual MFA exhibition features the work of graduate fine art students, who have completed the UAlbany Department of Art and Art History’s three-year, 60 credit-hour program of intensive training and study in fine art practices. At the end of their MFA studies, candidates are required to exhibit a cohesive body of their work.  This work forms the core of the MFA candidates’ visual thesis and demonstrates the vigor and expertise with which these emerging artists explore their respective choice of mediums.

The University Art Museum provides MFA candidates with the opportunity to exhibit their work in a professional museum setting.  At the same time the museum offers area viewers a unique opportunity to see how today’s emerging artists are addressing contemporary issues in the visual arts.  The Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition is an important milestone for these artists and marks their debut into the larger art world. Also featured is work by Master of Arts (MA) candidates. The M.A. degree is a 30 credit-hour graduate program in studio art.

The exhibition is supported by the Office of the President, Office of the Provost, The University at Albany Foundation, the College of Arts and Sciences, University Auxiliary Services, and the Ann C. Mataraso Endowment Fund.
