EDUCATION GROUP
 Jeanine Grinage
Members at 12/13/01 Meeting: William Hedberg, Ted Lind, Virginia Bartos, Don
Biggs, and Jeanine Grinage

The Education Group's first item of business was a discussion of expanding
the representation on the education committee. The group agreed to reach
out to the Albany Public School district, the Diocese and Independent
schools, area BOCES, CASDA, the Teacher Center and Albany Visitors Center.
Additional linkages for the education group include National History Day and
the National Council for History Education Conference in Saratoga Springs
the fall 2002.

There will be two goals for the education group: transforming the content
developed by the other working groups into products for the schools; and a
study of the history of Albany as reflected in the educational decisions,
policies and institutions in the city. The Education Group also agreed that
we would communicate with all of the other working groups to accomplish the
first goal.

Some material already exists and we will inventory existing resources and
integrate them with any new materials that are developed. The content will
connect with multiple academic areas: social studies, English language arts,
science, and the arts.

Next meeting of the Education Group is Thursday, January 10, at 10:00 a.m.
at a place to be determined at the University.
