Graduate Student Urban Core
Group
Formed by several University at Albany graduate students during the Fall of
1998, this group is an independent, peer-based organization dedicated to the
study of urban issues. The group comprises graduate students from a variety of
disciplines, and holds informal meetings on a monthly basis. At these meetings,
students present their own work, discuss urban-related issues, form
collaborations, and exchange ideas. The Mumford Center provides support to the
group by hosting outside speakers, urban excursions, and collaborative research
projects—particularly those focused on locally based fieldwork.
