May Jensen was born in New York to native New Yorker parents. She was married to Hugo Jensen, an immigrant from Denmark. Hugo migrated to the U.S. with his parents in 1911 and was naturalized in 1919. Hugo worked as a machinist and the couple resided at 75 Tompkins Ave. in Brooklyn.
