Getting Started
Q: I've got a communications project. How do I begin working with Marketing Services?
A: Simply contact Marketing Services at (518) 956-7940 or marketingservices@albany.edu. We'll arrange a meeting to define the scope of your project, prepare timelines and budget estimates to help you complete your project.
Q: What do I need to bring to that first meeting?

Turnaround
Q: What is the typical turnaround time for a project?
A: Turnaround will depend on the services required. We will meet with you to determine your needs, and then prepare a complete project schedule and budget for your approval.
Q: If I have text ready and just need design services, how long can I expect my project to take?
A: Design turnaround typically takes 10 working days. Additional time will be needed for printing of your project. If you have a need for a quicker turnaround discuss this with us and we can usually find ways to accommodate an expedited turnaround.
Q: How long will it take to get my project printed?
A: Offset print production can add up to 10 working days to the turnaround. Expedited turnarounds may be available depending on type of printing required and vendors' working schedules.
Q: How long will my web project take?
A: A web project timeline is dependent on the services required. A comprehensive project timeline for your web project will be developed after an initial meeting to determine your needs.
Costs
Q: What do you charge for your services?
A: All initial contact and project discussion, timeline and budget estimates are free. Writing and editing, print and web design and production services are billed at $30/hr. A Video and Audio Services rate card is available. Additional billings based on the cost of goods and services purchased for your project may apply. We will provide a complete budget estimate for your approval prior to starting any project.
Q: What will it cost me for printing?
A: Print costs depend on a large number of variables including number of copies printed, number of colors printed, type of paper used, the size of the piece and the type of finishing or binding required. Marketing Services will gladly discuss these with you and help you develop a realistic cost estimate for your printing project.
Q: Are there other costs I should know about?
A: We charge to recapture the costs of all proof prints we make for your review. These are billed at a rate specific to the printer used to produce the proof. We bill for all scans done for your project at a rate of $5.50/scan. We mark-up all goods and services purchased for your project by 12.5%.
Photography
Q: What does it cost for photography?
A: The cost for photography is based on the length of time the photographer is required. A one hour session, typically for an event or simple portrait, costs $45. A half day photo shoot costs $250 and a full day session costs $450. You will also be charged for any prints or output ordered.
Q: Do you shoot digital or film images?
A: While we can provide film of photography on request, most of our work is shot digitally with a Nikon D2X camera.

Q: How do I get the University web templates
A: Fill out the
web template request form and you will be provided with the information you need to build a web site using the UAlbany web templates.
Q: Are there guidelines or standards for someone creating

A: Marketing Services only supports sites that comply with UAlbany identity standards and that use the UAlbany web templates.
