Guests may take photographs from their seats
at the ceremony. However, in order to avoid
obstructing the view of others, you are asked
not to approach the stage area. The University
at Albany has contracted with a commercial photographer
who will take a photograph
of each graduate receiving his/her certificate
on stage and another when the graduate steps down
from the stage.
Following Commencement, the photographer will
mail photo proofs to the students’ permanent addresses,
and families will be able to purchase prints if
they wish. Any graduate who does not want to receive
proofs will have an opportunity to ask the photographer
to remove his/her name and address from the mailing
list. UAlbany does not benefit financially from
this arrangement; it is provided as a service
to graduates and their families. You are not obligated
to purchase the photographs.
As it is virtually impossible for parents to
get close enough to the stage or procession to
get a good photo of their graduating student,
we have found that parents appreciate the opportunity
to have a high quality photo of the graduates
