Personal Safety Advisory

On Monday September 12 at approximately 10:30 a.m., two persons displayed a handgun and forced their way into a residence on the 200 block of Ontario Street where two University at Albany students reside. The suspects tied up one of the victims and stole a laptop computer, a cell phone and cash.

The victims provided Albany City Police with a detailed description of the perpetrators and Albany City Police are vigorously investigating this report.

Please commit to doing whatever you can to insure your personal safety. Be sure to take the following safety precautions, whether off-campus or on:

Check to see who is at your door before you open it and/or ask who it is. If you don't know the person, do not open the door.

Always lock your exterior door/s whether your apartment is occupied or not.

Secure and lock your windows in the completely closed position whenever your apartment or room is not occupied.

Call 911 immediately in case of emergency. If you are on campus and calling from a cell phone, call (518) 442-3131 for University Police.

Thank you.
