Personal Safety Advisory

On Wednesday, 3/23/05 at about 1:30 a.m., unknown persons struck and robbed a male UAlbany undergraduate student as he was walking alone on Ridgefield Street and Park Avenue. Apparently a weapon was used to strike the victim, but it is not known what kind of weapon was used. The victim sustained injuries that required hospitalization. Albany City Police are investigating.

The University Police Department suggests the following safety precautions:

Don't walk alone at night if at all possible

  Be aware of your surroundings

  Avoid dark places

Be aware of places people can hide

If you are walking on a dark, quiet street with no traffic, walk in the road

If you have a cell phone, keep it handy to call police should you encounter a problem

Thank you.
