The Learning Technology Laboratory

"The Purpose of culture is to empower human expression,
and a fully technology-based education will do that; enabling people
to use the tools of expression to form conviction, to empower action,
to sustain reflection, to nurture hope."

R.O.McClintoch

The Learning Technologies Laboratory is dedicated to facilitating the pedagogically sound use of electronic media in teaching and learning, wherever and whenever it takes place.
SERVICES
We support School of Education courses and local area teachers with a Software Preview Center and personnel experienced in the use of a range of computer-based applications. We also provide consulting services to local educational institutions.

RESEARCH
We engage in research focused on how the unique characteristics of computing (and other non-print) media affect and can be used to enhance the learning process. We also develop and support the development of hypermedia for teaching and learning .

TEACHING
We initiate course offerings designed to help teachers explore the use of electronic media, in particular, the Summer Technologies Institute and the web-based Computing & Education course. We also offer short, certificate-only offerings in particular technology areas.

Although the Learning Technologies Laboratory's first responsibility
is to the School of Education and its constituents
(local schools and the greater SUNY network),
it is also open to the educational community in general.

We are located in the basement of the School of Education on the Uptown Albany Campus.

We can be reached by phone at (518) 442-5513 and by fax at (518) 442-5008.
