20th – 21st Century Peninsular Spanish Literature
Meredith Jeffers specializes in 20th and 21st Century Peninsular Spanish Narrative. Her doctoral dissertation examined transcription as a rhetorical figure in six works of fiction published since 2000; specifically, how transcription co-opts and interrogates the conventions of historiography in order to contest the current representation of the recovery of historical memory taking place in Spain. Her other research interests include Golden Age narrative, Spanish crime fiction, and studying Catalan. Professor Jeffers earned PhD and MA degrees from the University of Colorado-Boulder and a BA from Lafayette College. She joined the department as Lecturer in Peninsular Literature in the fall of 2013.
