LANGUAGES, LITERATURES & CULTURES
Each year LLC faculty nominate outstanding students for the following awards for academic excellence in our department. The LLC Executive Committee then carefully considers the nominations and makes the final selections.
Since May 2003, 36 LLC students have received merit awards. The department gratefully acknowledges the generous contributions from alumni and friends of LLC who have made these awards possible.
The Eleanor Bazzoni 1906 Fellowship
The Eleanor Rosalie Bazzoni, Class of 1906 Fellowship was established by Charles Bazzoni in honor of his sister. This fund is for outstanding academic achievement in English, French or German, and is in memory of Eleanor Rosalie Bazzoni, Class of 1906. It is awarded to an LLC student odd years and to an English Department student in even years.
Frank Carrino Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Professor Emeritus Frank Carrino (Spanish), this scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student with junior or senior class standing in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures who has demonstrated outstanding academic performance. Nominated candidates are asked to provide: unofficial transcript, CV and 2 letters of recommendation.
The Guy A. Enfanto Memorial Award for Excellence
Established by Guy A. Enfanto (BA '35,MA '41), long standing Principal of Troy High School, this award is available to students who demonstrate academic excellence in French language or culture.
Anthony M. Gisolfi Fund
Established by the Gisolfi Family, in memory of Professor Anthony M. Gisolfi (Italian), this award is given to an academically outstanding undergraduate student majoring in Italian who intends to pursue a career in teaching, and who shows evidence of commitment to the field of study. If no suitable Italian major is identified, the award may be made to a student majoring in Spanish.
