    Elizabeth Kane

    MA (2009)- Russian

Beth Kane came to LLC's Russian Program in January 2008. She graduated with a Master's in Russian Literature and writes that she "had a great time studying her passion, 19th century poetry, while working with the wonderful faculty" (Professors Baran, Hoogenboom, Rougle and Sergay).  While studying in LLC she was challenged to expand her understanding of theory and her ability to write and analyze scholarly writings, all the while becoming very well versed in 19th and 20th c. Russian literature.

Shortly after she left UAlbany, Ms. Kane participated in the highly competitive Critical Language Scholarship, fully funded by the Department of State, in order to spend two months in Siberia, immersed in her language of choice, Russian.

She has relocated to Jacksonville, FL, where she is teaching at a bi-lingual Russian-English public charter school called Global Outreach Charter Academy. She writes: "A lot of immigrants send their children there, but there are non-native speakers as well, and that's who I'll be working with. I get to teach, use Russian, and work with kids, all in one job!"
