Fall
2002 University
at Albany |
LLC finished the 2001-2002 academic year on a high note with the announcement of a second student scholarship fund, following the very successful campaign to honor the memory of Professor Emeritus Frank Carrino. The family of another former faculty member, Anthony M. Gisolfi, established a scholarship in his memory for students majoring in Italian. This was delightfully unexpected news, and the first award of both scholarships will take place in spring 2003. We are most grateful for the contributions of alumni, faculty and staff that have made these awards possible. We were pleased to be able to announce this good news at our April 22nd reception celebrating the launching of our new graduate student journal, Sodalitas, which was a truly memorable event. Our featured speaker, Provost Carlos Santiago, reflected on growing up in a bi-lingual household, and attending schools in countries around the world. The impressive view from the elegant Standish Board Room, along with music, food and wine enlivened the event. It was great to catch up with our alumni and meet new friends of LLC.

in higher education and we encourage you to join our efforts as you are
