Defects:

The painting has a layer of grime on the surface. A crack in the wall has split the painting support in three places. There is discoloration and deposition of grime in the lower left corner. Scattered areas of friability in the paint film are due to water damage

Recommendations for Treatment

• Remove the grime layer with a mild chelating agent rinsed with distilled water
• Fill gap in plaster and bring up to surface plane
• Consolidate friable paint
• Re-attach seperations at the edges and corners using an appropriate adhesive
• Fill areas of loss
• Inpaint gap in plaster crack and other damages as needed
• Apply protective surface coating
