he University at Albany is pleased to announce
a campaign to raise funds to restore and preserve the memorable David Lithgow murals in the Milne School
library.
The 14 Lithgow murals depict significant events and periods in the history of the Capital Region and New York State. These works, approximately 70 years old, are in various needs of restoration and preservation. In 2003, the UAlbany Provost commissioned a condition survey and cost estimate to clean, repair, and secure all the works for the next several decades.
As a start, in August of 2003, Lithgow's first painting, Heyward and His Female Companions, shown here, was restored.
This mural was restored by the Peebles Island Resource Center,
Bureau of Historic Sites, New York State Office of Parks, Recreation,
and Historic Preservation.
