he University at Albany is pleased to announce
a campaign to raise funds to restore and preserve the memorable David Lithgow murals in the Milne School
library.
|
The 14 Lithgow murals depict significant events and periods in the history of the Capital Region and New York State. These works, approximately 70 years old, are in various needs of restoration and preservation. In 2003, the UAlbany Provost commissioned a condition survey and cost estimate to clean, repair, and secure all the works for the next several decades.
As a start, this past August, Lithgow's first painting, Heyward and His Female Companions, shown here was restored.
To make a contribution to the Lithgow Mural Fund to help restore these beautiful works of art,
make your check payable to the UAlbany Alumni Association Lithgow Mural Fund and send to:
Mr. Jerry Parker, Assistant Provost
Draper 112, Downtown Campus
The University at Albany

Milne School graduates lead the charge to restore the Lithgow murals
In 1995, the Milne School Library was rededicated and named The Dr. Theodore H. Fossieck Milne Alumni Room.
"Our school was a very special place, and this space figured centrally in our experience. A commitment to maintain it as a signature common meeting room for the UAlbany downtown campus is a wonderful and enduring memorial tribute to our shared education, and to the values that were fostered in us as Milne students."
