The frieze and ledge above the painting show evidence of water damage.

This painting has a grimy discolored surface film. Water containing plaster and dissolved salts has dripped down the left side of the picture. Two sections of fabric are missing from the lower edge. There is flaking paint along the lower border. White wall paint covers the edges irregularly. A split in the plaster wall at the top left corner has split the support and paint film. There is a blind cleavage along the top edge from water damage.
