How to Report

Individuals who have witnessed or experienced sexual violence have several options for reporting the violence. Individuals may choose to report to the University, to the Police, or both.  It is important for a person reporting sexual violence to understand that there are significant differences in how the University and the police will respond to and resolve a complaint of sexual violence.  Questions about the differences in each process can be directed to the Title IX Coordinator or to the advocates at the Advocacy Center for Sexual Violence.

Reporting to the University:

All members of the University at Albany Community have the right to report an incident of sexual violence to the University’s Title IX Coordinator, Chantelle Cleary.

The Title IX Coordinator is available to receive reports and to provide information and assistance regarding an instance of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and/or stalking. Reports will be investigated in accordance with University at Albany policy and a reporting individual’s identity shall remain private at all times if they wish to maintain privacy. The Title IX Coordinator can be reached at 518-956-8168, ccleary2@albany.edu, or by visiting the University at Albany's Title IX reporting form.  To make an anonymous report, simply type anonymous in the name field in the form.

Withdrawal of Complaints/Involvement

A Victim/Survivor has the right to withdraw their complaint from the University at Albany process at any time.

Reporting to the Police:

All members of the University at Albany Community have the right to report an incident of sexual violence to the Police.  Reports made to the police may initiate a criminal investigation.  Contact information for the local police agencies appears below.
