Michael Steklof
Michael entered the University at Albany in fall 2006 and has been an energetic Judaic Studies Major ever since. During his time at the university he has taken many classes in Jewish history, Jewish literature, Hebrew langrage and Hebrew literature. His interests include but are not limited to: the secularization of the Jewish Religion, the Jewish people during the Hellenistic period, and the formation of the Reform Movement of Judaism. Michael is also pursuing a double major in History and is especially interested in the Middle East with a focus on the Islamic Religion. He hopes to do future research that combines his interests in Judaism and Islam. He is also pursuing a minor in education and hopes in the future to be a Jewish professional focusing primarily in the field of Jewish education. In spring 2007 Michael received the Eunice B. Sherer Judaic Studies Scholarship. In his spare time, Michael is actively involved in Jewish Life on campus primarily in the Reform Movement. He also serves as a religious educator at the Troy Jewish Community Religious School and serves as the senior youth group advisor at Congregation Berith Sholom in Troy.
